Much like buying “skins” in Fortnite and Minecraft, virtual fashion is simply the design and sale of clothing made for the online world.

Tinie – real name Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu – explained: “As we continue to embrace this tech-driven world, we are constantly online and reliant on WiFi, 5G and radio waves. I wanted to design a jacket. which doubles as protection from these elements, while being elegant and practical.

“We already have avatars and online versions of ourselves, so it’s amazing that we can have virtual outfits as well.”

The long jacket has a realistic quilted design with puffy sections between the seams.

It is part of a 12-piece collection launched by Google and designed by Tinie and other influencers and designers, including Sophie Butler, Jack Guinness, and Kyle De’Volle.

Jack, model and author of The Queer Bible, said: “The idea of avatars wearing digital fashion blows my mind and knowing that being environmentally conscious doesn’t hold back creativity is even better.

“Being able to give power and control back to the individual so that they can express themselves exactly the way they want is incredibly exciting. “

Sophie, who stayed paralyzed when a 70kg weight fell on her at the gym, pointed out that a garment made of pixels rather than tangible fabrics may be more accessible.

She said: “I love that Google Pixel 6 has given me the opportunity to experiment with digital fashion. It opens up a whole new possibility of expression and what we can do with our phones.

“The main message behind my suit was to create a feeling of strength and power for the wearer. I think it really represents me – strong, powerful, yet proud of my body and divine feminine energy.”

Tinie – whose hits include Pass Out, Miami 2 Ibiza, Girls Like, and Not Letting Go – used the Google Pixel 6 mobile’s Google Lens feature to identify her surroundings, which inspired the design of her futuristic jacket.

He said: “When designing my garment, I used the Pixel 6 to scan objects like furniture, industrial equipment, and clothing to understand how things were produced, which helped shed light on my ideas and my inspiration. “

The Google Pixel 6: Material You Collection is available for free, for a limited time only from Pixel6 x DRESSX.
